Happy Women’s History Month!

It is Women’s History Month and I have been thinking a lot about the women who have blazed trails for us LeadHERS. It makes me wonder if they left this Earth being who they desired to be not only for themselves, but for future LeadHERS. As women of color, we have normalized putting others before ourselves. I mean that’s how many of us have had to survive and I for one am thankful for the sacrifices others have made for me. I am grateful this month for the many women who have come before to make my way just a little bit easier.

We are MAGIC. Period. It’s time to celebrate that magic not just this month, but everyday. With all this magic, it is important for us to show up as our authentic and best selves. An important question that Karen Arrington asked in her book, the “Your Next Level Life” is who were you before the world told you who you should be?

I really want you to think about this and who you were before society told you how you dress, act, think, wear your hair, talk, etc. This month, I challenge you each to think about how you can truly show up as your authentic self. Not what your parents want, not what your employer wants, not how society wants you to show up. Who are you?

I mean the YOU that has shifted her mindset to exude confidence in every aspect of her life. The YOU that won’t settle for your job right now and the YOU that has the courage leave the seat at the table and create your own. The YOU that that has learned how to practice good self care and set good boundaries. The YOU that is healthy physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Where is she and when are YOU ready to show up?

This month, let’s reflect throughout the month on the many trailblazers that came before us, but let’s also focus on the YOU that you’re destined to be. Let’s show up as the LeadHER you are. Give yourself permission to be the best version of YOU!
