Keep Ya Head Up

'Cause I think we can make it, in fact, I'm sure
And if you fall, stand tall and come back for more...
Please, you got to keep ya head up.'*

This is one of my favorite Tupac’s songs and it resonates with me so much right now. I am trying to do everything in my being to follow his words and keep my head up…but it’s hard. VERY HARD. Between the pandemic, civil unrest, and finding out recent that there was not justice for Breonna Taylor….I AM TIRED.

Over the last few months, we have exchanged phone calls, text messages, DM’s to our people checking on them. My emotions have ebbed and flowed. One minute I’m fine and hopeful. The next I’m struggling to keep my head above water. The struggle is real yall.

One thing that I used to always tell my clients is to allow themselves to feel their feelings they are experiencing. There will be highs and there will be lows, but we must keep pushing. There is a lot of uncertainty about what will happen next and it can cause us all to increasingly anxious. Allow yourself to feel those feelings. You do have the choice to decide what you do with that energy. My best advice…disruption doesn’t mean defeat. This disruption is only temporary. Don’t allow a temporary and fleeting feeling to cause you to make a permanent decision. Speak life into your situation. You get to choose your mindset (remember I keep telling y’all that EVERYTHING starts with a thought). What mindset will you choose to activate your resilience and push you towards your goals. We speak power over ourselves, so what you are you saying sis?

Your goals, dreams, ambitions, and plans may look different right now because let’s face it…2020 has been rough for us all. Things may not have happened the way you wanted, but we don’t quit in the face of adversity. Things look different now, but we still have moves to make. It may require a fresh and creative lens to see through, where you GET to redefine what success looks like for your during these difficult times.

Now that’s a word sis!
